Owning a yacht can be an expensive hobby. Owning a yacht on the south coast of England is a VERY expensive hobby. So the decision to move the yacht was a no-brainer! As soon as we could get the essential work completed (replacing the engine drive leg seal, treating a small patch of osmosis on the keel, fitting a new battery, fixing new anodes and applying a new coat of anti fouling) we got the yacht launched and set off, away from the Solent area. We welcomed our first visitor to Seascape yesterday - my 88 year old mum who, with a helping hand and a couple of guardrail adjustments, managed to climb on board the yacht which now has a permanent mooring at Cardiff Bay Yacht Club. In a way we've kind of gone full circle from the early 80's when dad built his yacht(s) up in the barn at Penmaen (our family home in Mid Wales). Mum must have wondered what lay ahead as dad pursued his dream. I doubt she imagined he would take two of the yachts to charter out in Turkey and sail one across the Atlantic - with her on board! Mum and Dad were in their 50’s when they became boat owners and embarked on their adventures afloat, with no previous experience. Dave and I are a little older and we have 6 years of working with charter yachts in the Eastern Mediterranean behind us.
